The profound relaxation I have experienced in Rebecca's classes is such a gift. She taught me how to treat myself and my imperfect body with compassion and respect. Her down-to-earth approach helped me make yoga and meditation a daily practice that continues to enrich my entire life.
My approach to teaching Restorative Yoga includes a balance of gentle, dynamic movement and stillness. Each class emphasizes slow, rhythmic breathing to activate a relaxation response in the nervous system, as well as guided meditation to enhance healing energy in the body. My intention is to create a safe space where students can disengage from the distractions and demands of daily life, to focus on their own well-being. I have found the practice of mindfulness to be more accessible when attention is on the breath and other sensations in the body during a yoga posture. Though simple in form, Restorative Yoga is a powerful internal practice and an excellent complement to increased self awareness and personal growth.
